When you have logged in, you will be at 'Account home'. On the left side of the page, you will see a link for 'My account', under which it will say 'Account Details'. Click on 'Account Details'. You will be brought to a page which says, ' Edit User Details'. Change or add what you wish.

16) I find an ad/ offensive

Different people have different standards for what is socially and morally acceptable. Elderpost is not a dating service, or a site for sexually oriented material. However, there may be products which are valid for sexual purposes that are appropriate for the site. Neither do we accept ads or content of ads that dsicrimainte on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, place of birth, gender, or other bases ,unless there is a reason for it . For instance a female may prefer a female caregiver. We are committed to upholding the law to the extent we are able . See our terms of use.

17) What are Caregiver Circles, Exchange and Groups

Caregiver Circles are groups of people who get together to provide active caregiving for each other when one is away, sick etc., out for the evening. For example, visiting, driving to appointments, etc. They may be for caregivers whose loved ones are in a nursing home or other seniors housing, at home, or a combination. They are also support for the caregivers in the group. If you form one, they are best if they are somewhat small, we would recommend no more than ten people.

Caregiver exchanges are similar to Caregiver Circles, except they are less formal, and just between two or three people.

Caregiver groups are support groups focused on the caregiver. They provide emotional and practical support and information on caregiving services and strategies. Examples would be the support groups at the Alzheimer’s Society or the family support groups that are held in nursing homes sometimes. They are often professionally led, but may be peer led also.

18) What does ADL and IADL mean?

ADL is Activities of Daily Living. This is the term used when speaking about personal care tasks that people do for themselves. Due to injury, dementia, or other reasons, people often lose the ability to perform them. They include bathing, dressing, getting to the toilet, feeding oneself, grooming, and dental care.

IADL are Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. These are the practical skills people must be able to perform for themselves to live independently. They include housekeeping, laundry, banking, bill paying, shopping, cooking, and yard work. As people age, these are often the skills that are the first to become more difficult to perform and with which they need help. This may be due to frailty, it may indicate an undiagnosed illness or other medical condition, or it may indicate the onset of some kind of dementia.
