care needed for spiffy 88 year old english war bride
I am looking for a caregiver for my 88 year old mother. She lives in a self contained suite at the back of my house in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
She is physically terrific, but is struggling with memory issues - and I think these will only progress with time although she is very independent at present.
She goes out on her own every day on the bus - but is starting to need help with meal preparation, hygiene, and shopping/appointments. I would also require house cleaning as part of the responsibilities.
Because she is English, I think she would be more comfortable with a British caregiver.
And what a great opportunity for a young person wanting to come to Canada for a year or more.
I would offer room and board, and a weekly salary. Initially I think it would only require 4-5 hours/day ( we would work out days off). I live 1 block from the bus stop. And 2 miles from a university in case you want to take some courses. I live 15 minutes from Grouse Mountain skiing and 20 minutes from Cypress Mountain skiing - unbelievable local ski hills. It is a 1 1/2 hour drive to Whistler - home of the Olympics in February 2010. We are 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, and 5 minutes from some amazing hiking and biking trails in the mountains.
I have 2 dogs and 1 cat - so you would have to be an animal lover for this job.
You would have to organize your own visitor's visa or work visa. I would require references and work experience.
