Al'z Place
Al'z Place provides care for people age 18+ with Alzheimer's disease or severe memory impairment. The adult program is available five days per week, Eight hours per day. Therapeutic activities include physical exercise; active and quiet games; reminiscence; validation therapy; doll therapy; and other failure-free activities. Lunch and two snacks per day are provided.
Elderly Blind Grant
The Independent Living for Blind Seniors program is designed to increase the autonomy and safety of sight-impaired individuals age 55+ .In-home assessments and educational services are offered free to qualified individuals.
Meals on Wheels
ElderCare of Alachua County offers congregate meal sites and home-delivered meals for seniors. Hot lunch is served at seven congregate meal sites throughout Alachua County.
Hot lunch is delivered to home-bound clients in Alachua County. An added benefit to home meal deliveries is the personal contact provided by the volunteer or employee who delivers the meal.
Other Home-Based Services
• Case Management: Assessment, planning, and coordination of services are provided through various grant programs. A case manager is assigned to each client in programs which offer case management. The case managers serve as client advocates and work to ensure that other services are provided at the appropriate level to meet client needs.
• Emergency Alert Response: Emergency Alert Response is a community-based response system designed for the care of the elderly or disabled who may be living alone or who spend periods of time alone.
• Homemaking: Assistance is provided to complete household chores, laundry, and grocery or other shopping.
• Personal Care: Assistance is provided in bathing, ambulating, housekeeping, emotional security, meal preparation, and eating.
• Respite: Provision of relief or rest for the caregiver of individuals who require constant supervision, companionship, therapeutic and/or personal care.
