Senior Wise Services is a fee-for-service business which manages the care of elderly people who have no one to advocate for them. This can happen for many reasons. For example, the supporting family lives and works out of town while the elder is living in Ottawa. Consequently, the family is not on-hand to advocate, supervise or even visit the elderly person who is residing at home, in a retirement home or in a long term care facility.

The care offered by Senior Wise Services is not personal care but all the other forms of care which build and maintain the quality of life for an elderly person so that he/she does not fall through the cracks. The bonus is that the “away family” is able to sleep at nights knowing that a trusted and caring professional is looking after their family member.

This service works with all other health care services available in the Ottawa area. Jane’s role is to ensure that the standards of the care plan are maintained, that the elder has a trusted person who stands for the family and that someone is looking out for their interests. This is accomplished by scheduled visits to the elder at their home and by talking to the on-site team who are providing the day-to-day care. Current information is then forwarded to the “away” family.
