Community Links
Community Links is a provincial organization that promotes age friendly communities and quality of life for Nova Scotia seniors through community development and volunteer action.
Our Vision: Seniors in Nova Scotia are informed, active and engaged in their communities, have a voice in public policy, and are able to age in place with quality of life.
Our nine member Board of Directors each represents an area of Nova Scotia corresponding to the 9 health districts.
PROJECTS
Preventing Falls Together (PFT)
Preventing Falls Together is Community Link's largest program. This program uses a coalition model to increase the capacity of organizations, government and business to integrate falls prevention directed at seniors into their work and policies.
Nova Scotia Volunteer Forum
Community Links is one of four provincial partners coordinating this website, managed by, and for, volunteers.
Regional People's Schools
These regional events have been held in Shelburne and Kingston and Tatamagouche. The next event is to be held in the Port Hawkesbury area.. Topics are geared to local seniors’ concerns, and have included advocacy, leadership, funding, and transportation.
S.A.Y.! (Seniors and Youth)
Atlantic Charities Learning Exchange (ACLE)
This project works with small and rural charities across the Atlantic region on compliance issues for the Canada Revenue Agency.
Seniors and Gambling
This project, with support from by the NS Gaming Foundation. uses research, informal surveys, and focus groups to look at gambling attitudes and behaviour among Nova Scotia seniors.
