Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment
Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment (CHCE) offers classes, activities and resources to promote wellness, community integration and independent living for adults 50 and older.
Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment (CHCE) is a 501(C)3 tax-exempt organization under the Mt. Airy Community Services Corporation. It was founded in 1978 by the Chestnut Hill Community Association to provide programs for older adults living in the Chestnut Hill community.
Over the years, The Center has come to serve what many refer to as "greater" Chestnut Hill, encompassing not only Chestnut Hill itself but also the nearby communities of Mt. Airy, Glenside, Germantown, Flourtown, Cedarbrook, Springfield and other communities. Our 200+ members enjoy classes in their personal areas of interest, attend workshops, presentations, movies, and special events and also join trips we take around the Delaware Valley to a wide variety of interesting sites and attractions. Some people prefer to be hands-on and get involved as volunteers, assisting with fundraising events, as teachers, helping with administrative tasks or serving on our Board of Governors.
The Center has a two-person staff, and a Board of Governors which meets monthly. As well as being responsible for the governance of the organization, the Board is active in planning fund-raising events throughout the year.
Funding for the Center comes through a combination of membership dues, member-led and Board-led fundraising events, grants from foundations and charitable organizations and contributions from individual donors. You may now contribute to the CHCE through the United Way. Mt. Airy Community Services Corporation (our 501C3 fiscal sponsor) is United Way #9495. Specify Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment.
