Founded in 1968, Center in the Park is a non-profit community center in Northwest Philadelphia primarily focused on the needs of older people. The Center fosters respect, independence, and personal growth for each individual. As a community resource, it provides access to supportive services and activities.
The programs at Center in the Park are meant to provide opportunities for older adults to participate in social, recreational, health and fitness, arts and humanities and lifelong learning activities. Members are encouraged to make their voices heard at the Center and in their communities through service and volunteer opportunities.

Social Services and Housing:

Center in the Park helps older adults through the transitions of aging with a broad range of programs and services, all geared to maintaining independence and dignity. Most older adults remain in their own homes, but may need help remaining independent. CIP's social workers can help these adults evaluate their needs and link them with services that make their home lives easier, more comfortable and less isolated. Sometimes, talking through the situation with a knowledgeable professional is in itself, a helpful first step. In other situations, additional resources are available that can make a real difference in quality of life.

Center in the Park offers an extensive life-long learning curriculum, a vibrant arts and humanities program, a rewarding intergenerational program and a wide array of trip opportunities.

Center in the Park has embraced a mission of promoting healthy, positive aging. A major goal across all of our programs is to create a community of involvement and support for older women and men. For more than 40 years, the Center has offered a wide range of programs and opportunities to share and create life experiences that also help to build community. Center programs also offer diverse groups.
