Capital City Volunteers

Capital City Volunteers

For more than 20 years Capital City Volunteers has provided support to isolated seniors and adults with disabilities, in order to improve their quality of life and keep them independent in their own homes.
Each year, Capital City Volunteers helps nearly 300 members of our community remain in their homes. By providing one-on-one volunteer services to seniors and adults with disabilities we help them to maintain their independence.
Every person we keep out of an assisted living facility saves our community more than $30,000 a year. Not only can this money be directed to other much-needed services, but remaining at home leads to a better emotional state and allows our clients to remain contributing members of society.

Our Services:

Are you having difficulty getting to medical appointments? Are you feeling isolated at home and not socializing? Capital City Volunteers can help by providing volunteers that will:

- drive you to medical/other appointments,
- help with shopping and errands,
- visit you at your home,
- be your walking and outing companion,
- assist with dog-walking,
- handle light gardening/periodic yard-work,
- call you regularly for “just a chat,”
- help you with reading, writing, and completing forms,
- assist you with preparing your annual income tax return,
- take care of minor home repairs,
- help you through the process of downsizing and de-cluttering, or
- assist in other ways
