Burnaby Community Connections
Mission:
Connecting people, services and community
Values:
Access, Compassion, Inclusion, Accountability, Innovation
Burnaby Community Connections is vision-inspired, mission-driven and values-guided. These three principles, working together, form the purpose of the society and motivate all of our work.
Our mission is the statement of purpose mandated to us by our membership to enhance lives by connecting people to services and fostering connections on our communities. We do this in three unique ways:
• Help people access community resources and services.
• Create opportunities for individuals, businesses, unions, organizations and government to directly help those in need & build a stronger community.
• Facilitate collaborative projects and community-based solutions to address complex social issues.
We carry out this mission through our values—a framework of common principles and shared beliefs that guide us. They enshrine the standards by which we will direct our decision-making, actions and behaviour by reminding us to be:
• Accessible to all
• Accountable to our program participants, volunteers, donors and the community
• Compassionate to those in need
• Inclusive by accommodating difference and welcoming diversity
• Innovative when addressing individual and community issues
Includes a Seniors' Transportation programme which provides transportation for Burnaby seniors who are unable to take public transportation to their medical appointments. Dedicated volunteers pick up clients at their residence, transport them to a medical appointment, stay with them, and return clients home.
